With a new year afoot, we’re so happy that our shows are returning, especially 911! The ongoing writer’s strike meant we couldn’t watch new episodes of our shows but after 118 days, the strike officially came to an end, meaning shows could go back into production. Now with the new year and actors and crew returning to set, we’re looking forward to what will await, especially for 911 with its move to a new network.
Apropos of how long the strike took place, we of course have to talk about the return of 911, especially since it is now on ABC instead of FOX. The show is due to return on Thursday, March 14, and already we have an idea of what to expect.
A new promo from ABC teased a disaster on a cruise ship. Knowing that at the end of season 6, Bobby and Athena finally go on their honeymoon, we have to wonder if our beloved couple will be in danger. Plus, from the sounds of things, no one knows where they are. Of course, most likely they will have Chimney be in charge, so they will know they are absent.
But how long will it be for the team to know their captain is possibly in danger? Or it could turn out that Bobby and Athena had already disembarked before anything could happen! Regardless, we’re just excited to finally see what will happen! But what else are we looking forward to seeing?
Hen and Karen with their new baby girl

The season 6 finale of 911 saw Hen and Karen in the process of possibly fostering a baby girl to eventually adopt her. While we do not know if there will be a time jump due to how long it has been in real-time, we would love to get to see them being parents to a baby once again. Plus, we’re also curious to see how things are going with Denny and his relationship with his biological father, who recently came back into his life. How will this dynamic shape the Wilson family?
Eddie’s relationship with the 118 and Maddie

We love Buck and Eddie’s relationship, especially since they are so close and have such an amazing bond. We’ve gotten to see small snippets of Eddie’s time with other members, including Bobby and Hen, but we would love to see more interactions with his coworkers and friends! Plus, has he been to Maddie and Chimney’s house yet? We need more scenes between them, especially Maddie since they have yet to have a conversation just the two of them! They are characters who have gone through a lot and have similarities, so it would be such a joy to see them bond as well.
Madney wedding

Maddie and Chimney ended 911 season 6 planning their wedding, and we would be thrilled to see their plans in action! There would be such comedy gold, especially with Chimney wanting everything to be perfect and Maddie getting to have the wedding she deserved to have a long time ago. Also, we need to make an important note that her brother should be the one to walk her down the aisle. Cue the tears!
Buck accepts happiness for himself

Season 6 was a lot for Buck and his storylines were just constantly on the go! Between the sperm donor storyline, getting struck by lightning, and figuring out how a couch symbolized his relationships, our boy went through it! He ended the season in a new relationship with Natalia, a death Douala he met on the job. While we’re not entirely certain she’s the one, as evidenced by Eddie’s skepticism, Buck appeared happy and content. So while the actors themselves may always want to whump their characters, let Buck breathe for a couple of episodes before hurling something new at him. Let him be happy!
Chimney growing as a leader

We’ve gotten glimpses before of Chimney taking on the role of Interim captain. Of course, he tends to downplay how competent he would be as a leader. However, he has shown leadership capabilities and we’d love to see him explore them. Bobby had him go to the academy to work on his leadership skills (plus bring back Ravi Panikkar). Needless to say, we liked what we saw! Plus, since Bobby is likely to be MIA in the season 7 opener, we may see him in the Interim captain seat!
Bobby’s retirement plans

Okay, we can’t imagine Bobby not being the captain. But in reality, we know there is a chance he will retire one day. It would be great to see what could happen down the road. Plus, Bobby has been through a lot in the last few seasons. We haven’t gotten to see how it has affected him. He has always been the strength of the team, but with various injuries, including being shot, having a ceiling collapse on top of him, and having a freeway collapse underneath him, he’s due for some TLC. We want to see him take time to recover! Maybe that will happen if he ends up in a sinking ship.
Buck and Eddie’s relationship

These two have always had a strong relationship with one another. They’ve seen each other in ways no one else has. It’s not confirmed they will ever become a romantic couple on screen, but it would be nice to see them define their unit. Season 6 seemed to start off, showing how close of a family unit they were with Eddie’s son Christopher. Plus, when Buck was struck by lightning, Eddie was completely grief-stricken. They did have a small talk about what it was like to come back from something like that. However, there has always seemed to be something about their relationship that is different from everyone else. Is this the case? We’d love to find out!
Bonus: What we don’t want to see on 911
- Relationships that are thrown in at the last minute. The end of season 6 saw Eddie show interest in a former call victim. Even if she wasn’t the victim herself, it was random and meant to just give him a happy ending. If he’s going to date someone, it needs to be organic and make sense. Plus, didn’t he tell Buck that dating someone you met on a call was a bad idea? Oh, Eddie.
- Characters are left without storylines. We love all seven main characters. While season 7 may be short due to when it airs, we want everyone to shine in equal amounts!
- The team separated again. We love seeing the team as a family. Season 6 seemed to move away from that. We need more moments between all of them, especially as ones like Buck and Chimney become family for real!
