Tracker 1x01

‘Tracker’ 1×01 Review: “Klamath Falls”

It feels like it’s been far too long since we got to see Justin Hartley on our screens. And it feels like even longer since I’ve been able to see him in an action role. Yeah, I’m thinking of his role in Smallville. But this time around he gets to be a different kind of hero. Or maybe he’s an antihero. I don’t know yet. He definitely seems to walk the line. But either way, this first episode has me completely hooked on this show and waiting in anticipation for not only the next episode but for what this season will hold! So keep reading for my Tracker 1×01 review!

A Kickass Start

Did I stay up until Midnight watching the pilot episode of this show? Yes, yes I did. Do I regret it? Absolutely not! This was such a great way to kick off a show and it had more than enough action to keep my wide awake watching it. I was a little concerned with how the ratings were going to be airing it directly after the super bowl, but I should have known better than to worry. Because I have a feeling that when the ratings come back for this one, they are going to be through the roof. I have a feeling that people didn’t struggle too hard to stay awake and watch the first episode of this show.

From the first frame, you see Colter taking care of a girl who he has clearly tracked down and is working on rescuing her. He handles things rationally and professionally while also helping to ease the girl’s worries. Jesse may have been feeling pretty unlucky with her situation, as I definitely would have, but she was actually quite lucky that Colter tracked her down. No pun intended. But it does immediately make sense why that is the name of the show. And if you think things slowed down at all from there, they definitely did not.

A Different Kind of Hero

While Colter was absolutely involved with saving Jesse, he also didn’t waste time asking for his reward money for doing so. And was pretty intent on collecting it. But it does seem more like he was not as in love with collecting the money as Teddi is. She was intent on the money portion of the gig. Even so, I definitely don’t think Colter is going to be your typical hero. He also clearly has his own demons chasing after him, which seems to be part of why he travels lightly with his Airstream and lives on the road without a set, stable place. Colter also made it pretty clear that he is willing to break any rule or law when it comes to finding someone he is looking for.

I feel like he can come off as cold and almost clinical with his interactions. He portrays that he thinks of finding missing people as a job and acts as if things are clear cut and simple. As if he is just providing a simple service and being paid for it. But then when it comes to him finding the person he is looking for, he is warm, comforting, and clearly cares about them and their safety. And is willing to put his own safety at risk to protect them. So, I would definitely say there is a hell of a lot more going on under the surface of this character and I am eager to find out what it is. We did get to see some flashbacks of what seems to be his father training him. For what, I don’t know. But there was definitely something off about the memories.

Just the Beginning

I definitely want to know more about Colter’s past. How he got into tracking people down. And especially how he got to be so good at it. He seems to expertly read people and takes in every single detail of just about everything around him. And quickly. Plus, he’s pretty knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with a crisis and medical situation. There is a methodical way about how he does things and while he does clearly have emotions, he is pretty good about holding them at bay. And it seems that Teddi and Velma are handlers of some kind. Also, I know that Colter is listed as being a survivalist, but that doesn’t answer many questions. It kind of just leaves room for even more questions. And I’m absolutely in love with Reenie and the chemistry between her and Colter. So I’m going to need her around all the time.
