While this was only the second episode of this new series, there was so much going on. Morgan and Adam spent their time trying to solve an attempted murder. The rest of the team was working on a robbery case. And then you also had the captain putting in a little extra leg work as she continued looking into the disappearance of Morgan’s ex and Ava’s father. Plus there was an actual murder that took place, and things were far more connected than they seemed. So keep reading for my High Potential 1×02 review!
In Plain Sight
I will freely admit that I did not expect the two cases to be connected. The robberies seemed to be a background case and I figured something to keep the other detectives busy. But the way they seamlessly brought the two together was perfection. And something that I definitely didn’t see coming. It’s always nice when a show can keep you guessing. There were plenty of red herrings as they tried to figure out who had tried to kill Damian while he fought for his life in the hospital. I also appreciated that the case was treated as a homicide from the first moment. The team could have easily passed it off as Damian was technically still alive. But they worked hard to find him justice for when he woke up.

I know that we expect Morgan to see things differently when it comes to a case. And to see the things in plain sight that tend to be looked over as she connects the dots that no one else sees. But I think that Adam does plenty of that on his own as well. That’s part of why the two of them work so well together. Because he is also highly skilled in seeing things that not everyone else does. And it kind of seems like whatever Morgan sees, Adam is able to see the rest that she doesn’t as they piece it together in tandem. Now that’s the makings of a perfect duo. If only they could realize and accept it, they would be completely unstoppable. I’ll keep holding out hope that they become best friends sooner rather than later. And I’ll keep that hope alive as I continue to keep my fingers crossed that the two of them will also become romantic.
Work Your Magic
I feel like Daphne and Oz don’t get enough screen time. Or they haven’t yet, anyway. But when we do get to see them, they are pulling their weight on the team effortlessly. And they are as in sync with each other as Morgan and Adam are. Plus, it seems like Daphne and Morgan are off to a great start with their friendship. And that’s a powerful girl friendship that I am definitely here for. We barely saw Oz in this episode, but I am excited to see what special skills he brings to the team. I’m assuming this is just because we are only into the second episode of the series and things are just getting started. Hopefully, that means that we will eventually be able to start seeing the entire team working a case.
Ludo is a great character and I hope that we are going to see him in all of the episodes. He does a great job with the kids and the fact that he and Morgan are still clearly close friends is amazing. I definitely see the love between them and I appreciate their kickass way of co-parenting. Plus, it’s a pretty great perk that the LAPD is going to pay him to take care of his kids while Morgan is working a case. But I think he is so much more than just a background character that I hope we see so much more of. I think as time goes on, we will see more of Daphne and Oz. Especially as they continue supporting Morgan. Because I love that everyone is so supportive of Morgan, including the captain. Even Adam, though he tries to deny it.
In Perfect Sync
Adam can act as annoyed as he wants by Morgan. And he can deny that they make great partners until he is blue in the face. But what he can’t deny is the way the two of them work in perfect tandem with one another. They are pretty close to finishing each other’s sentences already and they haven’t even been working together long. The chemistry is also present between them whether Adam likes it or not. I know I’m loving it! And sitting back, hoping it won’t take four seasons before we see something happen between the two of them. They are two adults who work well together and their personalities mesh better than either of them realize. So I’m all in on the two of them taking out all the nonsense and just getting together. Or at least giving a sign it’s coming by the end of the first season.
