I love a good Hallmark movie about renovating an inn or a bed and breakfast. So this one was right up my alley! Add in that Elise inherited the place from her grandparents and you know I’m here for it. But Elise is also recently divorced so she definitely isn’t looking for love. And naturally, there are some financial problems because renovating any place, especially an inn, isn’t cheap. Add in the CFO of a major hotel brand who steps in and wants to help, and you’ve got a recipe for success! At least, I think so. The sparks flying between Elise and Luke certainly helped. So keep reading for my Autumn at Apple Hill review!
One Repair After Another
I give major props to Elise. She has clearly been through a lot and she hasn’t let any of it stop her. Or even slow her down. I’m sure there is a bittersweet feeling to being where she basically grew up and where she knew her grandparents put in so much love. But I will freely admit that if there were that many issues happening and I wasn’t able to keep the inn full, I would struggle to keep going. No matter how much love was involved, I would eventually run out of steam and no longer be able to keep repairing one problem after the other. Every time Elise fixed something, or had it fixed, something else broke in its place.

But even when she was clearly feeling discouraged, Elise refused to give up. At least, not entirely. Though she did have to come to the realization that she was going to need some help. At least, she did if she wanted to really restore the Inn and help it to achieve the beauty that it had when her grandparents had it in its prime. And that help came in the form of Luke. Which was made even more difficult since it took a bit of time before the two of them were able to get along. But once they really teamed up and started actually working with each other instead of against each other, that’s when things really started happening.
Forced Vacation
I actually really appreciated that Luke’s mom forced him to take a break. And it was also pretty hilarious that she had to force a suspension on him in order for him to take that break. And that some of his best friends genuinely couldn’t believe that he was taking a vacation, forced or not. How long has this guy been working without taking any vacation time? Jeez, I know he’s devoted to his family’s business but that’s extensive. Loosen up, man. Which is clearly exactly what he needed to do. He was still a little stiff at first even when he arrived at Apple Hill. But eventually he started to relax. Clearly it helped when he and Elise started getting along.
More than getting along, the chemistry between the two of them really started heating up when they began working on Apple Hill together. Elise just needed to realize that Luke and his family had no intention of buying the Inn. He just wanted to get some of his favorite memories back and be in the place he felt comfortable in. But I loved that Luke didn’t ignore Elise’s wishes, and instead found a way to get the power they needed without buying the new panel. Elise needed to see that the whole town loves her and the inn and allowing her to borrow their generators for the night wasn’t a major ask.
Apple Hill Halloween
Okay, I absolutely loved the idea of a Halloween party at Apple Hill. It was the definition of bringing back all of its old glory. And while I understand Elise not wanting to take any handouts, it was clear to see that wasn’t at all Luke’s intention. He just wanted to help. Partially because he really did love Apple Hill. But mostly because that man is head over heels in love with Elise. And I loved getting to see that she loved him just as much right back. The party came together and everything was absolutely magical. So magical, that even the bank had to see it and approve her loan. Just in time for Elise and Luke to get their happy ending. You know, since Luke has gone into business with Jared, meaning hat he is going to be in Landover for the long-haul.
