I am so excited to be able to have another one of these movies out! But it left me wanting another one already. So I hope they have plenty more of them planned for the future! Because I need to see more of Tom and Goldy. I feel like when they have these series, they really slow down the development of the romantic relationships of the characters. Anyway, this one got crazy at a musical event that Goldy was catering. And that was doubling as a first date for her and Tom. Freaking finally. See what I mean about them slowing down the development of the relationship? So keep reading for my Curious Caterer: Forbidden Fruit review!
Multitasking
Part of me thinks it kind of sucks that Goldy agreed to cater the music event for one of her favorite bands when it was supposed to be the spot for her and Tom’s official first date. But I understand that it was a pretty big deal she got asked at the last minute to do it. And I did like that she made sure she was going to be able to spend the concert with Tom. It still kind of sucked though. And that was before Derek was electrocuted by the microphone and died. So it definitely sucked after that. We couldn’t have the murder happen on the second date? We had to have it happen on their first one? Really?

Also, poor Goldy always has to get brought in for questioning because of her food. From the first movie where her cookies were compromised and contributed to Laura Smiley’s death. And now we have her having to be questioned because her food was apparently all Jax had eaten all day. I mean, we all knew that she was going to be cleared and I understood why she had to be questioned. And why it couldn’t be Tom that did the questioning. Even though I didn’t love that he had to recuse himself, I understood. But what I did love was that Tom and Goldy seemed to be a lot more touchy-feely with each other than ever before. I am definitely here for that! Adorable!
All the Suspects
Okay, I think this one had the most suspects so far. I mean, Derek was famous. Kind of. So there were plenty of people he pissed off along the way. Or that were jealous of him and wanted him out of the picture. Maybe so they could have the spotlight to themselves. But anyone from overzealous fans and band members to managers and agents, there were more than enough suspects to go around. Or maybe Derek wasn’t the one targeted. So from the beginning, I was pretty lost on who the actual culprit was going to turn out to be. Though I was definitely leaning toward the manager or one of the other members. Especially with all the turmoil and relationships within the band. But Claire was on my short list, too.
Things also got a bit chaotic in this one before the killer was discovered. From Jax also getting poisoned, to Selena having a stalker, and Olive following the electrician, and following in her mom’s footsteps. Then we had everyone seeing Goldy’s murder board. So that was fun. But ultimately, it was discovered that the killer was Jax. And I will say, he did a great job leaving me thinking that it wasn’t him since he had been poisoned by the ice too. In the process of getting him, Marla almost got hurt. But luckily, Tom is really great at his job and he and Goldy were able to save her. Derek caused the accident of Jax’s sister and Jax had spent all this time angry with Derek and blaming him for the loss of his sister. Because he knew Derek was at the crash that killed Abby.
More to Come
I understand why they have to keep the progression of the relationship slow. Because even though they are movies, they play out like television show episodes. And I would be fine with that if I knew they were going to make enough of them that the love interests could be considered happy and together. But after what happened with the Mystery 101 series, I feel like I don’t fully trust Hallmark about this at the moment. Sorry not sorry. That one was a major letdown and they not only didn’t finish with a happy ending, they left us with a major cliffhanger that we will never get to see play out. So they better not do that with my favorite mystery couple! Because those kisses were amazing and I’m going to need more of them. Also, freaking finally!
