‘Chicago Med’ 10×04 Review: “Blurred Lines”

Hannah is still reeling after losing Elise. And it seemed like while everyone was trying to comfort her, they were just making it worse. Then Caitlin decided to do a review of the case with the other doctors. And Sharon continued to try and figure out her death threat situation. But only seemed to continue on without any real progress made. Plus, Jackie returns to the ED and she seems ready to go. Even if Maggie wasn’t quite ready to put her right back into the thick of the things. To top it off, there were some cases that just didn’t seem to be adding up. And the answers were not what I thought they would be. So keep reading for my Chicago Med 10×04 review!

Difficult Situations and Forging Bonds

The woman who put the acid in her own eyes was a situation that I didn’t see coming. I was shocked that it ended up being her and that she felt convicted in what she did. And I was also surprised that more than Charles, Jackie was the one that was able to help her. It was just a strange situation. So was the situation between the father and daughter. There were definitely some weird vibes happening there and I was pretty proud of John for doing his best to look into the situation further. I also think it was great that he didn’t hesitate to pull Mitch in on the case. While they ended up having to call off DCFS after getting them involved, it was a good way for the two of them to get a chance to bond and work together on a situation.

I do not know how I feel about Jackie joining the crew as a nurse. I’m willing to see where it goes, for sure. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have some major reservations about her being in a stressful environment. Especially given her delicate history. Even with a whole team approving her to come back to work in that specific place. So when Maggie was giving her the easier, less traumatic jobs, it made sense. They also have to be able to trust everyone working beside them. And I think that’s going to be quite the hoop for Jackie to jump through. I’d need more time to see how she’s dealing with things before throwing her right into the thick of it. She ended up doing great, but I’m still a little hesitant.

Tough Calls and Questions

My heart was completely breaking for Hannah. She cares so much about her patients and she tried so hard to save Elise in the last episode. But I truly feel like she did everything she could have to try and save Elise. Though I understand her questioning herself. She just wants to make sure that she made the right decisions and really did do everything she could. But I also think her attempting to avoid even discussing the subject wasn’t a good choice for her either. Honestly, I really wish that she would have just let Mitch comfort her. In the end, it was Elise’s husband who comforted Hannah without even realizing it. And maybe that was actually exactly what Hannah needed.

I keep trying to give Caitlin the benefit of the doubt. Along with doing my best to accept her as part of the team. But she just continues to make it more and more difficult all of the time. I’m fine with her deciding that she wanted to do some reviews of cases, whether they be good or bad. But for her to decide that the first case they would be going over was Hannah’s? That’s just freaking cruel and unnecessary. I get that she made it seem that she was doing it to help Hannah see she did nothing wrong. And that kind of made me respect her. But I also think it was too soon and she had no way of knowing how anyone else was going to respond. So it was putting Hannah in an unpredictable and unfair situation.

False Alarms

I definitely don’t think Sharon has been taking the death threat against her seriously. But I think she needs to. I will say I’m not sure how I feel about this dragging on for a long time or becoming a big part of the season. At first, I thought that the broken picture frame was going to give us some kind of clue or progression in the storyline. But it ended up being pretty innocent with an HVAC worker knocking it over. I really don’t know who would be the one that could be doing this or what their reasons could be. Part of me wonders if it is going to end up being someone we have seen in the past. Or if it is going to be someone completely new and they just hit us with some random backstory for a situation we have never heard anything about.
