A fire at a family owned restaurant caused a whole lot of chaos. On top of it appearing to be arson and there seeming to be only one suspect the family was focusing on, it caused Ritter to get hurt. But don’t worry, he’s going to be just fine! At least we got to see Severide involved with OFI again. While it isn’t something I like to see all the time, I do love when he helps out with an investigation now and then. As long as it doesn’t take him away from the house too long. And once again, we had Pascal coming down on Kidd and leaving me questioning whether I’m going to be able to accept him or not. It’s going to be a no if he keeps causing upset with this family. So keep reading for my Chicago Fire 13×03 review!
Tough Calls
I really can’t say I blame Stella for wanting Damon gone. But I can’t help but admit that it isn’t how I wanted things to go. I really wanted him to work on things and stick around. Though not in the way that it seemed it was going to happen. With Pascal once again questioning Stella’s leadership and wondering about the turnover she has had within her team. Come on, man. And then he attempts to cause a rift by telling Mouch he should take the lieutenant exam. Really? Of course, for added measure and to ensure chaos, he just couldn’t help himself and had to say that you “never know” when a position might open up within the house. The meter this week is definitely leaning toward extreme dislike. Though he did pull the meter back a little after he did some reading. But that was all thanks to Mouch. He was the real MVP of this episode. Way to be, Mouch!

To say my jaw dropped when Ritter got hurt would be an understatement. Quite frankly, how dare you? You leave that man alone! Major props for the rest of the crew doing what had to be done and continuing with putting the fire out despite how they must have been feeling. But I don’t have any of those responsibilities. So I just sat here and worried the whole time while swearing that I would never watch again if anything permanent, like you know, DEATH, happened. Though I should have had more faith that this show knows better. Hopefully they understand they have betrayed my trust enough times that I felt I had cause for concern. Luckily, Ritter was going to be fine. Thank goodness.
Relationships Are Complicated
Violet is definitely in awkward territory. But she does only have herself to blame. Okay, maybe not just herself, since Carver hasn’t exactly made things easy for her. Though he also was just being honest with Violet about his feelings. And she chose to tell him she couldn’t do it. So he had every right to move on. I know that she doesn’t mean anything malicious by it and definitely didn’t intend to play with anyone’s emotions. But even she has to admit that it looked a little strange that she didn’t want a relationship with him or to get serious until he moved on from her and started dating someone else.
And then we officially met Carver’s girlfriend. And I’m not going to make a point to remember her name because she was a total jerk. She targeted Violet and was giving off major mean girl vibes. Should Violet have texted Carver? Probably not, especially while intoxicated. But I really don’t think it was necessary for Carver’s new girlfriend to behave the way she did. Also, it’s clear the vibes aren’t one sided and that Carver is still very much interested in Violet. So that’s on him for being in a relationship and letting his new girlfriend feel insecure because he’s still making eyes at Violet. But her behavior toward Violet was not okay. And getting into Carver’s phone? Absolutely not.
Mysterious Circumstances
The fire at the restaurant was definitely suspicious. But I will also freely admit that I never have any idea about these things. I usually don’t even have guesses. And when I do, they are wrong. So I try not to guess anymore and just let them play out. I figure that’s one of the reasons we have Severide. Because if anyone can figure it out, he can. Just like Stella said, “You got this, Kelly Severide”. When the rice cooker came into question, I thought maybe it wasn’t arson at all. But then came the question about how the rice cooker exploded to begin with. And the answer was with freaking paint thinner. Though I was surprised to find out it was the daughter who rigged the rice cooker to explode and destroy the restaurant. Way to help figure things out, Severide. I had no idea until the end.
