'Bridgerton' Season Three Part One

Did I watch the first part of Bridgerton season three the moment it came out? Yes. But I had to rewatch it at least five times before even thinking about reviewing it. If you haven’t seen it and don’ t want to be spoiled, turn back now. Honestly, you shouldn’t have even clicked into this article because it’s going to be all the spoilers. Also, why are you reading an article about Bridgerton when you can and should go watch it? What  the heck are you waiting for? If you have seen it, good job. I need more people to gush about it with. So keep reading for my Bridgerton season three, part one review!

Friends to Lovers

Listen, am I a little sad that we haven’t had the opportunity to see Benedict’s story yet? Yes. But I am enjoying that we get more time to get to know him and that he has been able to continuously build his way up to a bigger character. Also, we better have more of Colin and Penelope after this season because they can’t just be gone after all of this. I understand things were a little different with Daphne and Simon due to other commitments for the actors. But we have barely seen Anthony or Kate this season, either. I don’t like this pattern. I don’t care if they don’t show up much in the books after their stories.

Anyway, I have been ready for Colin and Penelope since Netflix announced they were making a Bridgerton series. There is a lot of hate for them as individuals that I’m seeing online and I’m not here for it. That was my favorite book in the series, I don’t care. These two that have been friends for so long and Penelope pining away for Colin while Colin didn’t even realize that he was pining for her right back. I am so here for it. Give me all the friends to lovers stories. It’s time for the friendship between Colin and Penelope to become more. So much more. See what I did there? If you’ve watched it already, you will.

Friendly War

I get why Eloise is mad, really I do. If I was in her situation, I would be just as upset as she has been. But I would also hope that I would take a step back and give my friend the benefit of the doubt. Penelope and Eloise have been such close friends for so long, that I feel like Eloise owes her a bit more credit to let her explain herself. But I know that she is still a bit blinded by anger at the moment. And that’s fine. Take your moment but then give Penelope a freaking break. Everyone knows they are as close as sisters and sisters do fight now and again. But Penelope has her reasons for why she has written the things she has and for why she has kept this a secret from everyone including Eloise.

While I don’t always love what Penelope has written as Lady Whistledown, I don’t think she’s writing anything that wouldn’t naturally come about eventually. She just helps it along really. And she is typically overhearing others already gossiping about things. Any time she has said something she really shouldn’t have or that was wrong was to protect someone else. And it should not escape anyone’s attention that the someone else usually has the last name Bridgerton. So maybe we give Penelope a little bit of a break? Her mom sucks, her sisters kind of suck, and most people from the Ton don’t treat her very nicely and have no problem gossiping about her. To be fair, she also hasn’t been very nice to herself.

The Carriage

We have all seen the romantic scenes with the characters. This show has given us the perfect amount of spice every time. And they always find a way to add in the most epic and romantic lines and love confessions while they are at it. Plus, there is a lot of beauty and very well-done emotion put in that feels very real and raw. But there was just something different about that carriage scene. I got chills from the second Colin took off after the carriage and then I sat there in stunned silence when it was all over. I’m not even sure how I’m going to be able to emotionally recover from it to be honest.

But I also know that we have some more spicy scenes coming at us because Penelope and Colin are in no way going to stop their sexy time there and we all know it. So I’m not sure how I’m going to handle any of that. Or how anyone is going to, really. I think we are all going to need to offer one another some seriously major support through the whole thing. For me, I just know I’m going to want to cry at the beauty of them and their ridiculously hot chemistry that makes me feel the need to fan myself. Along with ensuring that I’m not around anyone else when watching because those scenes are A LOT. In the best way.

Ending and Beginning

Part of me is so angry that Netflix is making us wait for part two. But the other part realizes that it could have been a much longer wait and that it does force me to pace myself. As much as I don’t want to. But I don’t want them to end. Watching this for the first time was an incredible experience and I’m kind of glad I couldn’t sit and watch all eight episodes in one sitting. On the other hand, I can’t wait to see all the details of how Colin and Penelope get together and where everything with Penelope’s Lady Whistledown secret goes. Also, I can’t wait for Penelope and Colin to get the happy ever after they both deserve.

What did you think of Bridgerton season three, part one? Are you as upset as we are that we have had to wait so long for the next part? Or do you think it’s god that Netflix has decided to split things up a bit? What do you think the second half of the season will hold? Do you think it will follow along with the books? Or are there going to be more bumps along the way? I know that Colin and Penelope are going to end up together. But I wonder how much more they will deviate from the books with their journey to get there.
