9-1-1’s fourth episode of season seven started off with jealousy and ended with an awakening for Oliver Stark’s Evan Buckley. Over the years, fans have continued to watch his journey as he grew to find himself and now he is on the road to discovering a piece of himself he didn’t know was present. Let’s review what happened in 9-1-1 7×04 “Buck, Bothered, and Bewildered.”
Who is Buck really jealous of in 9-1-1 7×04?

In the episode, Buck was excited to make friends with Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) after they flew a helicopter to save Bobby and Athena in the previous episode. However, he found out that Eddie and Tommy have been hanging out, even flying to Vegas to see a fight.
Buck begins to feel uneasy and jealous. He has always been able to hang out with Eddie easily, but now it seems like his best friend has been pulling away from him. Of course, this isn’t actually the case at all! Tommy and Eddie have a lot in common, having both been the army, flying in helicopters, and enjoying cool cars. Plus, Eddie has previously invited Buck along to places to hang out.
He spends the bulk of the episode trying to get Eddie’s attention, but it doesn’t work. In fact, he even decided to invite Chimney to a bi-weekly basketball game that Tommy and Eddie are going on now. Unfortunately, things take a turn when Buck gets rough and injures Eddie. He didn’t mean to hurt him, but it was pretty shocking, especially considering how close they’ve always been.
An accident leads to guilt and trouble in paradise?

Feeling guilty for causing Eddie to get a sprain, Buck ends up avoiding him, as he tells his sister. She rightfully scolds him, reminding him there are better ways to get someone’s attention than resorting to physical harm. Maddie was amazing in this scene, especially considering her history. She’s been the person hurt before and she understands what Eddie likely felt. She also realizes her brother wouldn’t willfully do something malicious and helps him to understand where he went wrong.
As much as we’re rooting for Buck and Eddie to makeup, we hope Eddie at least gets an apology since he didn’t know what Buck was feeling. This is why communication is important!
Speaking of communication, at the end of the episode, Tommy goes to see Buck and tells him he never meant to get in the way. He also reminds Buck that Eddie can have other friends. Buck agrees and tells Tommy that he does want to get to know him, as well. He thought Tommy was cool and was trying to get his attention. Oh, really, Buck? Are you sure?
A kiss is shared and a revelation for Buck

Either way, Tommy surprised Buck with a kiss, leading to Buck silently ponder what this felt for him. It was obvious in his expression that it took him by surprise, but it wasn’t an unpleasant feeling. He almost looked relieved. He agreed to a date with Tommy and from the looks of the preview, it’s a wild ride!
It’s a storyline that is so important for many in the LGBT+ community, especially when it comes to characters who are bisexual. Buck’s arc is sure to be handled with care since the cast, crew, and especially Oliver Stark care about the storylines they are presenting. It will be such an amazing journey to follow along with Buck.
Harry Grant is back but with a new face!
The other arc in the show that we watched was with Athena and her son Harry, who was recast. We’re going to miss Marcanthonee Reis, but are excited to welcome Elijah M. Cooper to the 9-1-1 family!
In the episode, Harry was in trouble in Florida after an altercation with a convenience store owner. He had a warrant for his arrest and went back home to Athena. Even though Athena was disappointed, she also wanted to help him understand how he needs to take responsibility for his actions.
He won’t have to go back to Florida, but he does need to complete community service hours, which Athena will monitor since he is grounded. Hopefully this incident will help Harry as he continues growing and we’re excited to see more of him now that he’s back home.
The promo for the next episode looks so good, especially with Buck completely out of his element on a date with a guy…or a dude, as he says in the clip. We are so here for this. Evan Buckley, we’re rooting for you.
9-1-1 airs Thursdays on ABC at 8/9c. Catch previous episodes on Hulu.
