‘DWTS’ Season 31 moves to Disney+ in premiere episode

DWtS Season 31 premiered on Disney+, marking its first time solely appearing on the streaming platform since its move from ABC. It was definitely a different format to get used to, especially without commercials. Taking the place of the commercials were dance breaks from the background dancers, giving the celebrities a chance to take a breather and talk to new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro.

DWTS Season 31 is off to a great start

Ribeiro, who was the reigning Season 19 champion with Witney Carson, did an amazing job for his first episode co-hosting alongside Tyra Banks. Interestingly, I also found it easier to hear them without the music drowning out their voices.

We were introduced to the new celebrities and their pros, from a mother-daughter Tiktok duo, a deaf actor, and a drag star. There were so many fun performances to see, as well as a powerful one from actress Selma Blair. Having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Blair has overcome many challenges and her first time on the dance floor found her embracing a new strength in her body.

Of course, there were some scores that were great and scores that were not so great. But in the end, one couple did get eliminated, much to our chagrin. It would have been nice to see them get at least one more chance to improve and not go home the very first night. And once again, the judges made the final decision on who in the bottom two went home.

DWTS Season 31 does not hold back on elimination

It came down to Real Housewife star Teresa Guidice and actor Jason Lee Lewis. All of the judges chose Teresa to stay and Lewis was sadly eliminated. Hopefully even though he didn’t get to participate for long, he still gets to use what he learned for his upcoming wedding!

Check out a breakdown below of the couples and how they did for their first week of DWTS.
