‘Outer Banks’ Season 2 Review

Finally, finally, the time has come! Outer Banks Season 2 officially hit Netflix on July 30th! And while I wasn’t able to watch it immediately, I did so as soon as I could. Then when I finished it, I freaking watched it again. Because it was that incredible! So amazing that I can’t decide which season I like better. But I do know that I love the relationship between Sarah and John B more than ever! Also, before you continue reading this review, be warned that there are going to be spoilers and nothing but spoilers. So if you haven’t watched Outer Banks season 2 yet and don’t want to be spoiled, turn back now! And with that, let’s get into it!

Relationship Dynamics

It was amazing to watch Sarah and John B. get closer. When Sarah got shot, I’m not gonna lie, I was genuinely scared she’d die. And John B’s reactions and facial expressions had me tearing up and gave me a serious case of feels. Then they let everything with their fathers come between them and broke up, shattering my heart again. And while Topper seemed a tiny bit better this season, in the end, he’s still a douche canoe in my eyes. He just can’t help himself when it comes to talking shit about Pogues. But I was glad he was there to save Sarah from Rafe. I was even happier when John B. and Sarah couldn’t stay away from one another and refused to let their families stop them from being together. Thank goodness! I need an official wedding! No matter how cute their impromptu and unofficial wedding was.

Then there was Kie. While I liked to see what seemed to be developing between her and Pope, there did seem to be something missing. So when Kie pointed out that things between them didn’t feel like they should, I could understand how she got there. And then there is Kie and JJ. I just can’t help feeling like there is something more between them. There’s just natural chemistry there and I have a feeling that something may develop there in the third season. And now there’s Cleo who I think makes an amazing addition to the Pogue crew. There weren’t a ton of scenes between her and Pope, but what there was, I absolutely saw some chemistry between them. But that’s just me and I always say I’m a hopeless romantic. Maybe there won’t be any more relationships as a focal point of the show.

Pogue for Life

There were plenty of inspirational speeches this season. And I won’t lie, I was completely into every single one. Each character made a stand at one point or another in this season and it was amazing. There was a lot of tension between so many of the crew in what felt like every episode. But when push came to shove, they all stepped up and stood together to face whatever problem was in front of them. I felt like so many of the situations they found themselves in were worse when the Pogues weren’t together. Pope almost being kidnapped. JJ having to deal with his father. The situation with Kie’s parents going from bad to worse. Sarah getting shot. And pretty much everything that happened with John B while in Nassau.

When it comes to the Pogues versus the Kooks, I’m always on the Pogue side of things. When things went crazy at the annual bonfire, the Pogues are definitely the ones I was rooting for. Especially when it came to the fight between John B and Topper. Did I mention that he’s a douche canoe? Because he definitely still is this season. And I need for him to just move on from Sarah. Because there’s no way that’s happening again. I’m glad that Cleo is now a part of the Pogue family because she fits in perfectly. And I can’t wait to see how they take on things back in the OBX. Shoupe and all the other Kooks aren’t going to have any choice but to believe the Pogues. After doubting them so many times only to see they were right about everything, it’s about time someone started believing them.

It’s Not Over

While not everything is perfect for our crew, they’re certainly able to see the bright side of things. Not that I blame them. At least they have one another and they’re okay. But there’s a lot of hurdles on the path in front of them. They still have to deal with the repercussions at home. And then there’s Sarah’s family. Because there’s no way Ward and Rafe are just going to let Sarah or any of the others go. And clearly, John B’s father is going to be added to the equation. This leaves me with so many freaking questions! Why has he waited so long to resurface? And why wouldn’t he give his son, who he left all alone, some kind of message or sign that he was alive somewhere along the way? What’s so important about right now that he’s decided to make his reappearance? So. Many. Questions.
