‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ 2×10 Review: “A Little Help from My Friends”

Owen cancels his appointment and lets it slip to Mateo, who is his temporary roommate after his house exploded! Yes, I said exploded. Meanwhile, Grace struggles with the idea of asking for help while she is on the road to recovery after her and Judd’s accident! And on a positive note, T.K. and Carlos have officially moved in together and it has me so excited for what the future of the show is going to hold for them! So keep reading for my 9-1-1: Lone Star 2×10 review!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Owen just can’t seem to catch a freaking break! While I’ll admit I’m kind of glad that Gwyn left, I still feel bad for Owen. He wanted her to stay. But she was determined to go. So I guess I”m glad the baby wasn’t Owen’s. Even though I was kind of excited about that. And if that wasn’t enough, now T.K. is leaving him, too. Okay, so that’s a little dramatic. T.K. isn’t really leaving. But he is moving in with Carlos. While I think that’s amazing and I can’t wait to see more scenes between the two of them now, I do feel bad for Owen. It’s got to feel like everyone is leaving him. And that isn’t even everything that Owen is dealing with!

It was obvious the idea of his surgery was getting Owen down. I didn’t blame him one bit. But I was glad to see the 126 come together and confront Owen on what was going on. Especially T.K. who was the perfect person to let Owen know he saw right through what he was trying to do. So between T.K. giving Owen a reality check and Buttercup having a medical issue, Owen realized he needed to schedule his surgery. I was pretty relieved to find out that Buttercup was going to be okay. But I was ecstatic to see that Owen realized he needed to get the surgery and that he was able to bond with T.K. in the process. Also, the intervention that T.K. set up was freaking hilarious. The reason why it was needed wasn’t hilarious, but I thought the execution was pretty funny.

Asking for Assistance

Grace has been such a strong character from the moment we were introduced to her that it was hard to see her needing help. But it made for such a compelling storyline. Even though Grace has always been strong and independent, there is nothing wrong with asking for help. But I think a lot of people, myself included, struggle with doing that. So it was great to see Grace realize that she not only needed a little bit of assistance but that it was okay to ask for it. We all need a little help sometimes. And that’s all part of having friends and family. We help one another.

And Judd has made it so clear that he is more than happy to help Grace in any way that she needs. I just think that Grace is used to being the one who takes care of Judd so she isn’t used to things being the other way around. It was clearly frustrating Judd at first when Grace wouldn’t let him help her and I felt the same watching it. So I totally understood where he was coming from. Which just made the ending of the episode that much more satisfying to watch. I could see not only the relief on Judd’s face that Grace was going to let him help her, but the happiness too. He genuinely wants to help Grace and seemed excited that she was finally going to let him.

Living Arrangements

While Mateo’s living arrangements weren’t the greatest, it was terrible that his home literally blew up behind him. More scenes with Mateo and Owen bonding are definitely something I’m down for! Unless Mateo decides to stick it out with Paul instead of Owen. But even if that’s the case, I’m down to see Paul and Mateo getting closer! As for Carlos and T.K., I can’t wait to see all the scenes we’re going to get of them in the future! Them finally moving in together is freaking awesome and I definitely say it’s about freaking time! Maybe it will also mean that Owen and Carlos will get more scenes together. Because I would love to see the two of them getting closer. Actually, I need to see them get closer. It feels like we never get to see them get to know one another.
