Here’s How to Make a Dutch Baby from ‘Bob’s Burgers’

Okay, so Bob’s Burgers has plenty of recipes. Or at least new burgers in just about every single episode, thanks to the burger of the day. And while we may do a little something on some of the burgers down the line, there is already a cookbook for them. Today, though, we are going to be giving you a recipe from an episode of Bob’s Burgers but not from any of the Belcher’s. Nope, we’re going to show you how to make a dutch baby from the season 4 episode, “Christmas in the Car”. So read on!

Linda Loves Them

As soon as the Belcher clan found their way into the quaint little diner, Linda saw the sign about dutch babies. We’ll be honest. At first, we had no idea what it was. But if Linda was into it, well, we didn’t know if it was going to be something we would like or not. Then we saw what they looked like and had to go look them up ourselves. And, wow! They looked and sounded delicious! So, naturally, we thought we would share the recipe with you! Added bonus, it’s super easy and fairly quick! Just the way we like it!

So, basically, it’s a fluffy pancake. By basically, we mean that’s exactly what it is. And the toppings you put on it are absolutely endless. Want to add the same toppings to your dutch baby that you do your regular pancakes? Great! Want to step outside your comfort zone, get a little wild with your fluffy pancake toppings? Even better! So let’s grab the ingredients and get started!

What You Need

We got our recipe here, from the Food Network, so feel free to go there or stay and cook with us! Grab your blender, a spatula, a cooling rack, and an oven-safe saute pan! Or, if you’re like us and you don’t have that, a cast-iron skillet or pyrex dish will work just as well. Heat your oven to 400 degrees and get ready to begin your road to deliciousness!

  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3 Eggs
  • 3/4 Cup Flour
  • 3/4 Cup Milk heated for about 30 seconds in the microwave
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • A Pinch of Salt
  • Confectioners’ Sugar you’ll use for dusting your baby at the end! Your dutch baby pancake, we mean. Not your child.

Put the butter in the dish you’ve chosen and pop that into the oven while you prepare everything else. Grab your blender and throw in everything else but the confectioners’ sugar. Blend that stuff up on medium to high setting until it’s all uniform. Grab your pan from the oven, but with oven mitts. Obviously. Swirl your butter around the pan to make sure it’s nice and coated and then pour the rest of that butter into the blender and let it do what it does best! By that, we mean blend everything together one more time.

The Fun Part

Now we get to the fun part! And the delicious part! Or maybe you think the whole process is fun. If that’s the case, awesome! Anyway, pour your batter into the pan and pop it into the oven! Let it bake for about 20 to 25 minutes, or until the center is puffed and your edges are a beautiful golden brown. Yum! Pull that baby (haha!) out of the oven and grab your spatula! Remove the dutch baby from the pan with the spatula and place it on the cooling rack to sit! This is to prevent your dutch baby from getting soggy. Because gross. Who wants a soggy baby?

When your dutch baby is cooled a little, add confectioners’ sugar to your preference. Our preference is to add a lot. Like, a lot. Then you’re ready to enjoy it! You can share with others or keep that baby for yourself! We usually keep it for ourselves. We hope you’ve had fun cooking with us and can’t wait to do it again! Find and follow us on Twitter @capeandcastle to let us know your thoughts on this recipe and maybe share some pictures of your delicious dutch babies!
