30 Days of Thanks 2020: ‘Blue Bloods’

Okay, we’re shocked that there aren’t more Thanksgiving episodes of Blue Bloods. How is that possible? Maybe they figure since we get Reagan family dinners so frequently, it’s fine. While we do love those family dinners, we would love some more Turkey Day episodes! But maybe it’s something we’ll get in the future. We’ll just have to keep watching. In the meantime, we’ll appreciate the episode we got. So keep reading for our 30 Days of Thanks article on the only Blue Bloods Thanksgiving we’ve ever gotten!

Thanksgiving Can Be Rough

There have been many times over the years that we have worried about Henry’s health. But when we got the season two Thanksgiving-themed episode, it wasn’t Henry we had to worry about. It was Frank. He gave us a pretty big scare when he had a heart attack the night before Thanksgiving. And during this time, we were still in the early seasons of Blue Bloods. So we didn’t know if there was a chance Frank could be leaving the show. All bets are off with television shows these days. Surprisingly enough, it was an episode that had the family dinner not taking place at the Reagan family’s big and welcoming table.

Nope. This family dinner took place in the hospital. But it didn’t suck. The circumstances for it being at the hospital did. But this family is nothing if not resilient. So they were able to pull together and give us a family dinner that will remain in our memories forever. Honestly, we kind of like that things got shaken up a little. We were so used to weekly family dinners that perhaps Thanksgiving wouldn’t have stuck out to us if it had been business as usual. Plus, thankfully (get it?) Frank was better in no time and back to his usual self. And we went back to worrying about Henry. Which we are still doing now. Maybe more now than ever since so many years have passed since this episode.

Good Memories

One of the great things about this episode is that it takes us back. It takes us back to when we had Linda. And of course, makes us feel sad all over again about her being gone. But at least while we’re watching the episode, we can bask in the happiness that we always feel when we see Linda on screen. And the happiness of her, Danny, and the boys. Speaking of the boys, Sean and Jack were so freaking little in this episode! It’s been so long since we’ve gone back to the beginning that we almost forgot how just how little they were when things all began.

Then we had Nicky. When times were simpler and we didn’t have to stress with her about college and going into her forever career. When we only had to worry about her dealing with the dating scene just a little. Instead of dealing with some of the buttheads she seemed to date recently. But we also had a young Jamie, still early in his career. And while we didn’t have Eddie yet, every time we watch this episode we are reminded of how similar the two of them were when they were starting out. Rewatching this episode is definitely a trip down memory lane and a happy one for the most part. We definitely recommend it.

Any Episode Will Do

If you would rather stray away from Reagan family tragedies, we understand. They are not our favorite moments, either. But the great news about watching Blue Bloods is that big family dinners are a staple of the show. So if you’re just looking for a good old family get together with a huge dinner spread, just about any episode will do. While not every episode features a family dinner, a majority of them do. So just scroll on through those episode descriptions to get to the one you like and watch away! Personally, we recommend the ones with Eddie. But that also means that we don’t have Linda. It’s definitely quite a choice, so we recommend you watch a couple!
