‘DWTS’ Episode 29×07 Recap: “Villains Night”

Alright, let’s talk about Villains night on Dancing With the Stars. There were plenty of scares, amazing performances, and scores that left us just scratching our heads and wondering what the judges were thinking. The remaining ten celebrities gave it their all this week and every single one of them brought their game this week.

Starting off the night with Jeannie and Brandon, they truly set the tone with their Paso Doble, as she paid tribute to Hannibal Lector himself. She consistently does so well in all her dances and for many reasons, she was one of my favorites of the night. We’ll get to that later.

There was some nervousness surrounding AJ and Cheryl. During rehearsals, the pro dancer fell and hit her head hard. However, she had a day to recover and alongside AJ, they got two 9’s and an 8 for their amazing Tango set to the Psycho theme. Can we just say that AJ truly is an amazing partner?

I mean, clearly, I am biased considering I have been a Backstreet Boy fan since the beginning. Heck, my AIM screenname alluded to them! You could tell how worried he was for Cheryl, who he has described as being family. During their dance, it was clear that he was being tender and careful with her. Not only was he focused on making sure he did well, but that his partner was taken care of. It’s clear they have the bond and partnership to make it to the end.

Luckily, no other injuries were reported and the celebrities continued to do well, including Johnny Weir and Skai Jackson. They both had a rough week last time but they came back stronger than ever.

Along with these amazing performances, the first perfect score of the night went to Nev and Jenna, who did an amazing dance in tribute to Black Swan. They really gave it their all and their dance was magical from beginning to end.

Kaitlyn and Artem ended the night with a dance that was really beautifully done. Unfortunately, the judges had different opinions on the dance, with Carrie Ann Inaba suggesting she seemed to “give up” at the end.

This didn’t seem constructive and Kaitlyn looked taken aback, as she didn’t have that in her mind at all when asked. She has worked so hard this season and looking at her dance, there was no way she gave up in the middle of it. Her performance was amazing and if there was any critique, then it should not have been that she seemed to “give up.”

The bottom two of the night were Jeannie and Brandon, and Monica and Val. Jeannie looked surprised but was completely gracious towards Monica. As the judges were talking over their decision, Jeannie nodded her head when they talked about how Monica was improving. She even looked surprised when they kept her and voted Monica out.

Seeing her want to hug Monica but unable to due to social distancing was sweet. Honestly, I wish we could give every celebrity 10 votes each because they all have been working so hard.

Next week is going to be a rough one. Two celebrities will be voted off in a double-elimination so make sure to vote! Text the first name of the celebrity to 215-23 (IE. “Kaitlyn”) 10 times and also vote 10 times on the DWTS site.
