Rose’s Quaranstream (Part 1 of 2)
Quarantine got you down? Well, here’s a list of some movie franchises broken down to try to help you get through these tough, bored times.
The Lion King Franchise
Don’t get me wrong, the new, live-action one is good, too. But sometimes you just need the nostalgia of an oldie, but goodie, cartoon to lift your spirits.

The Lion King (1994)
Personally, this is my favorite Disney movie, so it’s quite possible that it will make every list I ever write. But it’s a classic for a reason. Experience the circle of life and feel some love tonight! But not really, because social distancing!

The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
I know, I know. People don’t usually like sequels. Heck, some people might not even know this one exists. But it’s actually one of my favorite sequels to any movie, like ever. Whereas The Lion King was loosely based on Hamlet, Simba’s Pride is loosely based on Romeo and Juliet. And it also caused children everywhere to question how they were attracted to a lion (Kovu), no? Just me? Fine. Liars.

Star Wars Original Trilogy
Now, I’m not gonna lie. Until recently, I had never even really watched the original trilogy of the beloved Star Wars universe. I understood all the references… sort of. Now, this winter break, I finally broke down and watched all of the movies. But quarantine is just as good of a time to immerse yourself in them as any!

Star Wars: A New Hope
The one that started it all! So many iconic characters and lines introduced! I’m not gonna lie, it can be hard to get through if you’re not a huge dork like me. It is totally worth it though if only to lay the foundation of what is to come!
Where to watch: Disney+

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
This one is actually where the action starts happening! I, along with a lot of fans, prefer this movie in the original trilogy. Aside from one scene (we all know what I’m talking about), this movie has all the good stuff! More characters (fan-favorites) are introduced, revelations are made, what’s not to love?

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
“I love it when a plan comes together!” Whoops, wrong movie. Anyway, this final installment in the original trilogy has its own merits too. Some more revelations are made, and an ending with a nice pretty bow. And so… a legacy begins! May the force be with you!

Indiana Jones Franchise
Now, if Star Wars wasn’t enough of a Harrison Ford train for you, allow me to introduce you to his other iconic work: Indiana Jones!

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Again, with a movie that started it all! Humble professor by day, BAMF artifact finder by… vacation? Indiana Jones gave a lot of prospective college students a big misconception of what an anthropology major would end up doing with their life. But, hey, he’s got a whip, so that’s cool! Also, the Ark of the Covenant is now in a government warehouse, but you didn’t hear that from me.
Where to watch: Netflix

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Not gonna lie, not my favorite of the franchise, but it is still kinda fun to watch. Indy has a cute little kid sidekick that kinda makes the movie worth it. So there’s that. Oh, and he’s shirtless a lot. So, you’re welcome!
Where to watch: Netflix

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Now, this one is definitely a fun one. We get a little insight into Indy. First and foremost, that the reputable Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones is in fact, Henry Jones, JR! That’s right! We meet Indy’s daddy. And he’s none other than Sean Connery. And the apple doesn’t really fall that far from the tree in a lot of respects. Oh, and they find the Holy Grail, so that’s cool.
Where to watch: Netflix

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
What, this article wasn’t Disney enough for you? Well, guess what? Remember Shia LaBeouf, the kid who played Louis on Even Stevens? Yeah, he comes back in the final installment of the franchise as Indy’s son! Hey, one more thing…aliens helped the Mayans build the pyramids.
