Welcome to Cape & Castle!

Christine Cenon, founder and editor-in-chief of Cape & Castle, welcomes you to her World of Disney.

I remember when I was first introduced to Disney. My late, paternal uncle, who had been living on the East Coast, used to visit me on a yearly basis. He loved movies as much as me; whenever he’d visit, he’d have some bootlegs for me to add to my collection. One of the first movies that he had ever given me, was a copy of the 1989 The Little Mermaid, and as soon as the “play” button was pushed on the VCR, I was hooked. For years, I didn’t want to watch anything else. Every single day, the movie was in my queue, and it’d be the first that I’d pop into the VCR. I never got tired of it. To this day, it is still one of my all-time favorite Disney movies.

And that was it. That was when my love and obsession for Disney was born.

Ever since, and to this day, my world has revolved around the company. From its movies, to its merchandise, to its lifestyle and culture, there’s never a day that goes by to where Disney isn’t involved. And when Marvel Studios was born in 2008, my obsession grew even more than I thought possible. And it was my love for Marvel that led me to tap back into my creativity, which I unknowingly abandoned once my teenage years hit.

Ever since I was young, I’ve had a keen imagination, but when I started to spend time being creative again, I began to explore avenues that I had never thought of exploring. Not only did I become a part of the fan fiction community, but it gave me purpose to pursue a career in the industry that I’ve always wanted to be a part of: movies and TV.

I attended university for screenwriting and filmmaking, but somehow, ended up as an entertainment journalist. In 2017, I was lucky to have been given an opportunity to publish one of my articles, and from then on, I would pen a myriad of them, mostly on Disney, and for an array of Internet publications.

No more than 96 hours to the timestamp of this post was this website concocted, realized and hatched. Sure, I’ve thought about starting my own website, prior to and within the last two years. I’ve even attempted, once or twice, but I had never gotten past the point of sign-up. But for no reason at all, this time around, I went out on a whim, and I bought a domain—concurrently, I received interest from workmates and mutuals alike, in writing for me. It was right then, that I could no longer turn back. And now, here I am, with my own website, and I’m happy that I did what I did, 96 hours ago, because I am already proud of this website.

Cape & Castle is another entertainment website, yes, but this website is curated with love (never mind how cliché that sounds)—by not only myself, but by fellow critics and fans who are just as obsessed and as fascinated with Disney as I am.

Cape & Castle will be showcasing news, reviews and more on Disney-based movies and TV shows, from Walt Disney Pictures, to Walt Disney Animation Studios, to Pixar Animation Studios, to Marvel Studios, to Lucasfilm. But it doesn’t end there—the website’s full of possibility, and we’re only just getting started.

So welcome to my love letter to Disney. Welcome to Cape & Castle. Disney with us™.
